ha it's a good thing I hooked up my ups today - the power went out for a second just now and my computer didn't skip a beat. :-)

cool feature in this thing is that it beeps every 30sec when the power is out, and it starts beeping faster when it's low on juice. so I can actually keep using the computer for a while and be warned when I really have to stop. although another thing I can do is kill the computer and have it powering a lamp.

I think I might buy one more (this model was only $40). just to run a lamp. I can unplug it from the wall (why not, because the power'd be out anyway) and take it to other rooms and get a ton more light than just candles would give me. with a low power fluorescent or led lamp I could have light for a long time.

i think we've had a blackout at home maybe 3 times in my whole life...i have NO idea what i'd do...probably walk out the front of the house and dumbly just look around

I think the city uses christmas tree tinsel for wiring. and I'm on the ghetto side of town so we get used tinsel.
